Dwell on This

Philippians 4:8
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

This is not going to be a long post as I do not have much to say.  Read above.  This is what we are commanded to dwell on.  This in no way denies the reality of evil, our own sinful tendencies, and the curse that is upon all creation because of sin, but it goes along quite well with the notion of renewing your mind.  Dwell on what is good.  Stand against evil and expose error by knowing what the Lord of all Creation has said is pure, and lovely, and of a good report.  Stand against the darkness by letting your light shine before men.

Think on Christ for He is the dispenser of justice, He is pure as snow and white as wool, He is the loveliest of ten thousand, and He is without guile.  He is the embodiment of virtue and the object of all praise...think on Him, dwell on Him, and feast upon His word.

I am trying to take my own advice today because today I feel weak, tired, tempted, frustrated and weary.  I want to hide my light and lash out at those who oppose me. I am thinking on others besides Christ, but my Light cannot remain hidden.  It refuses to be extinguished or relegated to the back corner of my life.  Dwell on what is good...Dwell on Christ.  Feelings and circumstances are fleeting but the promises of God are yes and amen.  I would love to sit down with Elijah by the brook and say " woe is me I am all alone, " but that was written for our edification.  We are not alone and our circumstances do not define us.

God help me today to dwell on Christ and all that He is.

Amen! I just read that verse today. It's so easy to fall into negative thinking. God has to remind me every day to check my thoughts. Thanks for the reminder. Blessings:)

hey Amanda how have you been?

Yes it is very easy to be negative when life is swirling around you.  It is easy to focus on what is wrong instead of dwelling on what Christ has done and who He is.
