Freedom Apart From God

The leading opponent, Democratic Sen. Ruben Diaz, was given only a few minutes to state his case during the Senate debate.

"God, not Albany, settled the issue of marriage a long time ago," said Diaz, a Bronx minister. "I'm sorry you are trying to take away my right to speak," he said. "Why are you ashamed of what I have to say?"

After days of contentious negotiations and last-minute reversals by two Republican senators...

Our freedom,

: the quality or state of being free: as a : the absence of necessity, coercion, or constraint in choice or action
is an allusion, it does not exist, and when followed to its logical ends leads to anarchy.

Men and women have from the begininng tried to wiggle, squirm, and rid themselves of any constraint upon their will ( See Genesis 3 ) and it has always lead to failure, ruin, and death. We are not free. By the disobeidence of Adam the whole of humanity has become enslaved to sin and death:

Romans 5:14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over those who had not sinned in the likeness of the offense of Adam, who is a type of Him who was to come.

1 Corinthians 15:22For as in Adam all die...
and as such we are not free from any constraints or the absence of necessity. We by nature are sinners,

Psalm 51:5Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, And in sin my mother conceived me

Ephesians 2:3Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest

children of wrath, and indulge in the desires of the flesh and mind. It is inescapable as the night follows the day and Summer gives way to Autumn. Humanity is by nature under the just condemnation of a holy and righteous God who will one day judge not only the works done in the flesh but also the thoughts and intents of our hearts. That is a sobering thought knowing the depths of wickedness that some have fallen to.

Homosexuality is a sin. This is not about choice ( although we choose according to our natures ), genetics, or social justice but rather that God has stated that same sex marriage was not so from the begininng.

Genesis 1:27 God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

Matthew 19:3-5
3 Some Pharisees came to Jesus, testing Him and asking, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any reason at all?” 4 And He answered and said, “Have you not read that He who created them from the beginning MADE THEM MALE AND FEMALE, 5 and said, ‘FOR THIS REASON A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER AND BE JOINED TO HIS WIFE, AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH’?

Ephesians 5:31FOR THIS REASON A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER AND SHALL BE JOINED TO HIS WIFE, AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH.
There are no Scriptural commands, evidences, or approvals of same sex marriage but there are several instances of the condemnation of same sex behavior:

1 Corinthians 6:9Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals,

1 Timothy 1:10and immoral men and homosexuals and kidnappers and liars and perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound teaching,

Galatians 5:18-20
18But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

19Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

20Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies
Marriage is the only sanctioned sexual activity found in the Bible. It does not matter if you agree or not that is what the Word states. Fornication is illicit sexual intercourse which by Biblical definitions includes everything outside of a covenant relationship. What is that covenant relationship that endorses, promotes, and ratifies the right use of humanty's sexuality?
Hebrews 13:4 Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge

Ephesians 5:31FOR THIS REASON A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER AND SHALL BE JOINED TO HIS WIFE, AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH.

1 Corinthians 7:11
But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife.

1 Corinthians 7:14
For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy
.

Ephesians 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

Titus 2:4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children

The Biblical definition of marriage is between a man and a woman but by changing the prescribed order given by God we are racing towards judgment.

Isaiah 5:20Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

Galatians 6:8For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting

2 Timothy 4:3For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears

Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
Are we as a nation holding the truth in unrighteousness and heaping condemnation upon ourselves by not enduring sound doctrine? Have we become so Politically Correct that we are afraid to stand for the Truth? Is the Church of the Living God so paralyzed by the spirit of the age that we can no longer say that God is Holy, man is sinful, and everything under the Sun is not right. Let us proclaim that our free will has costs us more than ever imagined and separated us from God. We must share God's righteous standard ( Law ) as a means to present the Good News ( Gospel ).

In closing I just want to make a few things clear.

  1. God is Sovereign. He raises up nations and kingdoms for His purposes. The United States is no different.
  2. Man is not free to freely choose anything. We are bound by our natures and our natural state is sinful and depraved.
  3. The nature of sin has not changed because Americans want to redefine what it. God is the One who has defined good and evil as He is good and the only objective standard.
  4. Marriage is between a man and a woman.
  5. Homosexuality is a sinful lifestyle.
  6. God will judge sin. Sooner or later.
In the opening quotes it is revealed that two Republicans, those from the " conservative "party and supposedly the pro-family camp, are the reason that this bill passed. This is not a political article but those two and all others that voted " YES " will be held accountable before God for their actions.

The bill makes New York only the third state, after Vermont and New Hampshire, to legalize marriage through a legislative act and without being forced to do so by a court.

The courts cannot redefine what God has ordained. Marriage was already legal. This law is legal and binding but not honoring to the God who created those who passed it.

What do you think? Let me know.
