INTOLERABLE!!! The Cost of Tolerance at all Costs

You've got to stand for something or you'll fall for anything....

Those words are a line from a Country-Western song I heard many years ago and although I cannot remember the singer or the remainder of the lyrics they stuck with me.  Some things are simply worth standing for regardless of the consequences and Truth is one of them.  Truth can be found anywhere as all Truth ultimately emanates from and belongs to God alone, but with this new mindset of tolerance and peace at all costs are we looking for it in all the wrong places?  Have we begun to cast the net of historical orthodoxy in an ever-widening arc with the end goal of not being offensive?  There is a time and place for righteous indignation, to take a stand for something, when the doctrines of our faith are being compromised for the sake of unity.  Unity is an admirable and honorable goal to be sought for but not at the expense of sound doctrine.  Are we in the Evangelical Church abandoning the faith once and for all handed down to us so we may become more palatable to those in the world?  We must remember that friendship with the world is enmity with God and that we are called to be salt and light, both to preserve and to expose.

I would rather be the faithful and persecuted church filled with the power of God as compared to a compromising and lukewarm one that is in danger of being spewed out.

Which church do you want to be?

Great Thought!

I desire to be ever faithful in a loving way. Christians are often caught in the catch-22 scenario where if we stand on doctrinal truths, we are labeled "judgmental", and "close-minded". I have found that when I love a person first, I can disagree with them/confront them later with a lot less fallout. Kinda of like me plugging their nose while giving them Godly medicine:->

We must love as Christ has given us no other choice but love without Truth does the sinner no good...or the wayward within the church.

I really like the plugging their nose line...and with three little boys it is appropriate. We must remember too that they don't also know they need medicine

God bless and keep the faith

Great message! It's like 2 Timothy 4:3, For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.

It's sad but it seems so apparent in the church today. Imagine if we preached like Jesus did, we'd sadly be thrown out of probably most churches today. Look at John 6:60-61 and 66, On hearing it, many of his disciples said, "This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?" Aware that his disciples were grumbling about this, Jesus said to them, "Does this offend you?....From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him.

I pray for boldness and strength for myself and all the body of Christ to preach the full Truth.

Thanks again for another great blog. Blessings to you:)

Thanks Amanda for stopping by again.

Can you imagine the comotion Paul would have caused today with his confrontation of Peter? Or His cursing of those who taught a false Gospel in Galatia?

We all need the boldness of Christ tempered with His love and humility

God bless and keep the faith
